A family business
In 2000, after closing on our new home, my wife wanted to be able to keep cool with our young children. Unfortunately on a teacher’s salary, I didn’t think that a pool could be affordable—until we heard that you could build one yourself and save a significant amount of money. After some research and inquiry, we decided to go for it, and built our $15,000 pool for just under $11,000 (With the increase in raw materials and construction costs, that same pool costs around $30,000 today).
A year later, my brother asked if we could help him build his pool. My response was, “I can do that?” We helped him build his $30,000 pool for around $17,000. When friends and neighbors came over to swim, many would ask about our pools. From there our phone started ringing and a business was born! With the assistance of a good friend who was a salesman for a major valley pool company, we learned the art and science of pool design and construction, and today help families fulfill their dream of pool ownership.
